Singapore has decided to bid to host the 2015 World Schools Debating Championships. If successful, this would be the second time that Singapore will host the World Schools Debating Championships, having last hosted in 2002 for roughly 28 teams. This is a fact that is also noted in the information that has so far been released. The proposed tournaments date extend from 20 July 2015 to 30 July 2015

Singapore are proposing co-convenors, rather than the norm of single convenors, Mark Gabriel and Evelyn Woels. Mark Gabriel acted as Tournament Director for WSDC 2002. Only one of the two co-Chief Adjudicators has been proposed, that being Aaron Maniam (Singapore) who is acting as the co-Chief Adjudicator of the upcoming WSDC 2013. In converse, the co-Chief Adjudicator of WSDC 2012, Dr Vernie Oliveiro, is the proposed committee secretary. Other members of the team include Anil Singh (Treasurer), Samuel Myat San (Communications & Registration Officer), Lucas Li (Logistics Officer) and Geetha Creffield, Teoh Teik Kee (Organising Committee).

WSDC 2013 is to be held in Antalya, Turkey. A successful bid by Singapore would put the tournament on an an extended stay in Asia, with Bangkok, Thailand hosting WSDC 2014. It would be the first time that WSDC has been hosted in the same region for two consecutive years since 2000.

Further information about the bid can be found at the WSDC 2015 Singapore Bid facebook page.
