WSDC 2011 – Team South Africa


This is part of the WSDC 2011 series as I recount and report on the World School Debating Championship 2011 in Dundee, Scotland as a debater, blogger and Wales national team member.

At the South African National Schools Debating Championships 2010, a total of 12 outstanding individuals were selected to take part in the South African trials. The trials took place from the 29th April to the 2nd May in Durban, KwaZuluNatal. It was during these trials that the final team of 5 debaters were chosen.

The 12 selected for trials are:

  • Elisha Kunene
  • Yashodhan Nair
  • Reantha Pillay
  • Emma Gates Pottinger
  • Colin Besaans
  • Rob Grant
  • Fezeka Mehlomakhulu
  • Saloshnee Naidoo
