Top Posts of the Year: 2009
It’s been a relatively short year for this blog, but it has nevertheless been a fruitful one with nearly 40 posts in a short 2 months period. Here’s a round up of the top posts of 2009.
SIS had its first batch of IB students completing their exams and the results of this was released sparsely with only certain staff members insisting that they were wonderful. However, in an ironic twist, the school carefully choose to exclude a number of important statistics of comparison.
With the announcement that Mr. Wray was due to go to another school, the process of selecting a new principal began. Ultimately, Mr. Graham Silverthorne was selected. You can read his bio here.
Part way through focus week, I completed my Economic Exam, a weird, difficult but extremely gratifying experience. In the same exam sessions, I also completed Maths.
It was the first time Hong Kong ever hosted a major sporting event on its own, the Hong Kong East Asian Games. In yet another twist, Hong Kong went on to win the Gold in Football finals.
It has been a long time waiting, but the school finally managed to release SOMETHING on the 5th floor, albeit just a few pictures. Hopefully next time they’ll ask us for our thoughts.
It had been a long year in debating, various competitions and events but as we draw a close to 2009, I look forward to the challenges of 2010.
It had been a long and hard fought battle, but eventually, the Democrats managed to pass much needed Health-Care reform. Congratulations on what is arguably the best Christmas present for the US.

His selection was contentious, but it didn’t detract from the irony of having a war time president of the United States coming forth to accept his Nobel Peace Prize and then speak of ‘just wars’. Better luck next year Obama.
